Step out of your Past and Walk Freely in the New Creation That you are

About

ABOUT

Welcome!  My name is Carole Ramsey.  I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Trust-Based Relational Inventions® (TBRI®) Practitioner, and Certified Health Coach.

I currently hold a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a BS in Psychology with a concentration in Christian Counseling, and an AA Early Childhood Education.  In addition, I am a Certified Health Coach.  I have over 20 years of experience working with children and families in many different capacities, including counseling children and families who have been touched by adoption, foster care and/or trauma.  I also have experience providing counseling services to those experiencing chronic health issues and challenges and appreciate the intersection between our physical health and emotional well-being.

I work, primarily, from an attachment-based lens believing that our earliest relationships inform our ability to connect, trust, and have healthy relationships later in life.  I also utilize an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) perspective which supposes that we all experience suffering in life but have the power to accept the hard things we deal with and commit to having a meaningful, purposeful, fulfilled life in spite of the suffering.  I also draw from a Person-Centered approach (which is very relational in nature) and Existential Therapy (which assumes and looks for the higher meaning and purpose of our experiences).  However, I have a great interest in and draw many techniques from other theoretical approaches to meet the specific needs of my clients.

I work with individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds on issues including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, life change, work and/or relationship challenges, grief and loss, chronic condition management, and other mental health and life concerns.  I specialize in working with families in and through the journey of adoption, trauma, healing and attachment.

My goal is to always create a safe, comfortable, accepting environment allowing for your growth, self-discovery, self-awareness and self-acceptance.  I utilize both in-person and virtual sessions.

Carole is licensed as an associate clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina (License #A15270).

ABOUT CHRYSALIS CHRISTIAN COUNSELING

Chrysalis; a sheltered state or stage of being or growth

A caterpillar must molt into a chrysalis before becoming a beautiful butterfly.  The process that takes place is wholistic, nurturing, and supportive, which allows for the natural growth process to take place. Once the process is complete, a beautiful butterfly emerges from the chrysalis as a new creation.  Scripture tells us this is also what happens as we come to know the Lord and walk in discipleship with other believers; we become a new creation. This is really the heart of Chrysalis Christian Counseling;  creating a space for clients to step out of their trauma, out of their past, to step out of their heartache, their disappointments and all the way life batters us and knocks us down and walk freely in the new creation that they have become.

A chrysalis encapsulates both the visible outer transformations and the private inner ones that take place in the life of the butterfly.  It is also representative of the healing work that takes place in the counseling space.  In order for our lives, situations, circumstances to change, we must be willing to change ourselves.  We must allow ourselves to go into the chrysalis and come out transformed.

The process by which a caterpillar becomes a butterfly is called metamorphosis.  Metamorphosis has been defined as a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.  What a beautiful metaphor for what counseling can bring in the life of an individual or family.
